Installing Philips PAR38 Grow Lights on Our Office Ceiling
This post documents how we installed Philips PAR38 grow light bulbs on a ceiling rail in our office, using socket cords to brighten a bookshelf wall and support indoor plant growth over the next two years.
How we improved plant growth and brightened our office with a simple LED lighting upgrade
- Standard office ceiling lights were not bright enough for healthy indoor plant growth.

3. What You’ll Need for Installation
You don’t need professional help—just a few items:
- A ceiling-mounted black or other colos rail bar
- Compatible socket cords
- Philips PAR30 LED grow light bulbs
Once you have these, you're ready to go.
4. How to Install a Rail Track on the Ceiling
We started by attaching a single black rail to the ceiling. It’s important to measure the alignment carefully for a clean look. Once secured, it acts as a stable base for hanging multiple grow light fixtures.
5. Attaching the Socket Cord and Light Bulbs
Next, we plugged in the socket cords and attached the Philips PAR30 LED grow lights. With three bulbs along a single rail, the light spread evenly across the entire shelf area. The setup was quick and efficient.
6. Before and After: Office Wall Transformation
The difference is subtle but significant. The wall looks brighter and more vibrant with the grow lights on. Plants are now visibly happier, and the entire corner feels more alive.
7. Office Plants Two Years Later: Any Changes?
The office setup hasn't changed much over the past two years, but the number of plants certainly has. With the grow lights consistently providing the right conditions, the plants have continued to thrive—still growing steadily and bringing life to the same cozy corner.
