How I Built a DIY Green Wall in My Office Partition Using Scindapsus

This post documents how I built a DIY office green wall by adding Scindapsus plants to a gray office partition, using a black background for contrast, expanding the plant rows over time, and managing the watering challenges of a living wall.

From one small patch to a full wall of greenery — a slow and satisfying transformation

Quick Summary:
  • I started with a small section of Scindapsus on a gray office partition.
  • A black wallpaper background made the green leaves stand out more clearly.
  • I gradually added more rows of potted Scindapsus until the partition became a full green wall.
  • The finished wall works as a living centerpiece in the office.
  • Watering is the hardest part because each pot needs to be lifted and soaked properly.
  • Even with the maintenance challenge, the green wall makes the workspace feel fresher, calmer, and more alive.

🌱 1. It All Started with One Small Section

At first, I just wanted a touch of green.
I added a few pots of Scindapsus in the middle of our gray office partition — and it instantly felt fresh.

🧱 2. Adding a Black Background

To give it more contrast and make the green pop, I added black wallpaper behind the plants.
It made the whole space feel intentional and modern.

🌿 3. Expanding the Wall, One Row at a Time

Once I saw how it looked, I couldn’t stop.
I kept adding more rows of plants — and soon, it turned into a lush green wall.

🌲 4. A Full Green Wall on the Office Partition

Eventually, the plants took over the entire partition wall.
It became a living centerpiece in our workspace, full of texture and calm energy.

💦 5. Watering Is… Not Easy

I have to lift the pots to water them properly — it’s time-consuming and a bit tiring.
But it’s still worth it. I’m already imagining a new system with better watering access.

✨ 6. After Watering, the Leaves Shine

Once the water soaks in and the pots are back in place,
the wall looks fresh and vibrant again — like a little rainforest between meetings.
