🌿 Growing Minette Basil From Seed: A Complete Guide From Sprout to Bloom

This post documents how I grew Minette Basil from seed indoors, observing its tiny leaves, naturally compact round shape, and delicate flower spikes.

Minette Basil is a compact, globe-shaped basil variety known for its perfectly rounded form and tiny aromatic leaves.
It’s one of the most attractive basil types to grow in pots, especially for indoor gardeners.

I grew Minette Basil from seed and recorded each stage — from the first cotyledons to the flowering stage.

Quick Summary:

  • I grew Minette Basil from seed indoors under LED grow lights.
  • The seedlings first produced small green leaves before forming a compact shape.
  • As the plant matured, it naturally developed a neat, rounded habit.
  • It stayed attractive without heavy pruning.
  • Later, it produced delicate flower spikes, showing the full indoor growth cycle of Minette Basil.

1. Growing Minette Basil From Seed Indoors

    8. Measuring the Leaf Size

The leaves are extremely small — only a few millimeters wide.
Measurement shows their miniature scale, which contributes to the tidy appearance.

    9. Flower Spikes on Indoor Minette Basil

Eventually, Minette Basil produces a small flower spike.
While some growers pinch flowers to extend the leaf harvest, I let it bloom for documentation.

The flowers are small, delicate, and add charm to the globe shape.
