From Arboretum to My Living Room: How I Planted a Begonia snowcat
- I found a Begonia Snowcat at National Sejong Arboretum and brought it home.
- The plant had deep green leaves with soft white spotted patterns.
- I moved it from a basic brown nursery pot into a clear slit pot.
- The clear pot helped with drainage and root observation.
- After repotting, I placed the begonia on my indoor plant shelf under LED grow lights.
- The plant adapted quickly and began producing new leaves indoors.
🌱 1. Discovering the Wood Begonia at Sejong Arboretum
I wasn’t planning to bring home a new plant that day.
But as I walked through the Sejong Arboretum, one particular leaf caught my eye —
a striking pattern of soft white dots spread across deep green leaves, like snowflakes on velvet.
It was a begonia snowcat.
Its round leaves and almost luminescent spots felt so delicate, so alive,
that I couldn't leave without it.
🧺 2. Replanting at Home with Care
The begonia came in a basic brown nursery pot.
I wanted to give it a better home — so I moved it into a clear slit pot that allows for better drainage and root observation.
First, I filled the new pot halfway with fresh soil.
Then, I gently removed the begonia from its nursery pot, careful not to disturb its roots.
I placed the root ball into the center of the new pot and filled the empty spaces with more soil, patting it down gently.
Finally, I gave it a good drink of water — a proper welcome to its new home.
💡 3. Placing It on My Indoor Plant Shelf
My favorite space at home is the plant shelf under grow lights in the living room.
It’s where I keep my green companions — a small jungle of comfort and calm.
The wood begonia took its place right there, among other plants bathed in soft light and quiet air.
✨ 4. A Quiet Change in My Living Room
To my surprise, the begonia adapted quickly to its new spot.
Even under artificial grow lights, it thrived — putting out new leaves faster than I expected.
Day by day, I watched it stretch and grow,
a quiet but joyful presence in the rhythm of my daily life.
