🌿 Expanding My DIY Pothos Green Wall: From 24 Plants to a Full 120-Plant Living Partition
After creating a small 24-pot Pothos green wall in my office, I decided to expand it into a full-scale living plant partition.
What started as a small experiment quickly turned into a large, lush green feature made of 120 pots of Golden Pothos.
This post documents the complete process step-by-step — from preparation to installation, and how it looked after one week and two weeks.
1. The Original 24-Pot Pothos Green Wall
My first setup used a simple wire grid and 24 small Pothos pots.
It worked well, but I realized the entire office partition could be turned into a living green wall if I added more plants.
2. Preparing for the Expansion
To scale up the installation, I prepared soil, Pothos pots, and spread newspaper on the floor to keep the workspace clean.
Repotting nearly 100 plants at once is surprisingly manageable — especially with hardy plants like Pothos.
3. Installing 96 New Pots (Total 120 Plants)
I added 96 more Pothos pots, filling the entire structure from end to end.
Once installed, the wall immediately became denser and more visually balanced.
4. Adjusting the Pots for a Cleaner Look
Initially, the red nursery pots were visible from the front.
To improve aesthetics, I repositioned the plants so that only the leaves were visible, hiding the red pots completely.
5. One Week Later — Plants Settling In
After one week, the leaves began to stand upright and look healthier as the plants adapted to their new environment.
6. Two Weeks Later — Fully Blended Green Wall
By the second week, the individual pots were no longer noticeable.
All plants blended into a single lush green surface.
7. Watering Method Without Making a Mess
Since watering can be messy, I lift all the pots upright and place thick newspapers below to absorb excess water.
After watering, the newspaper becomes fully soaked — very effective for avoiding spills on an office floor.
